We note with sadness that our colleague Mike Hoare of Wilmslow died on 6th October at the age of 70. He had been suffering for about a year from motor neurone disease. Out of the blue in 2014 he volunteered his services and those of his friend Pete Ash to help with repainting PNFS signposts in situ. In his youth he had lost a hand in an industrial accident, so I was impressed when they managed to repaint no fewer than 20 signs in that first season. Mike had a lovely personality and an indomitable spirit. Pete will continue to paint our signs on his own, but Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A signpost memorial plaque is already planned.
